Where Feminine and Masculine Energy Meet

A friend recently jokingly called me her sex witch. I helped her reconnect to her feminine sexual energy and release part of her story that was blocking her ability to enjoy an intimate relationship.

In my practice, I help clients release emotional blockages. Where we hold tension, blockages form and energy is not able to flow through these areas. We shut these feelings, emotions and our needs down. Not all clients talk to me about their inability to enjoy intimacy, as it is a difficult subject to broach and there is a lot of shame attached to this subject. However, over the years, I have knowingly (and most probably unknowingly) helped many women and men reconnect to what I see as one of our major life sources - our sexual and vital energy. I see a woman’s connection to her sexual energy as the fundamental, divine energy or essence from which all living things originate and are sustained. It is also our center for creativity. The womb is where this happens. For men, their sexual or vital energy and is concentrated in the areas around their reproductive organs and the lower abdomen/pelvic region.

We are living in times of much change. There is a lot of male bashing going on. I strongly believe that the society we currently inhabit, one that has for many years been dominated by patriarchal rule, has affected men as it has women. Controversial, some may say, but nonetheless, its impact is now really coming to light. Women can also bash each other too, which also keeps us from truly expressing ourselves with an unconstrained freedom.

There is a worrying trend of men of all ages taking their lives. On the upside, there has been an opening for men, and there are now spaces for men to open up and talk without shame amongst other men. A space to express deep-held emotions and fears.

My story has not been easy to digest. I didn’t experience the best care and guidance from the male caregivers in my childhood, which impacted decisions I made in my 20s and 30s. I choose not to go down the route of male bashing, so do not tarnish all men with the same brush. This is particularly important for me as I am the mother of a teenage son.

I also find it hard to read and hear women say, “I don’t need a man in my life.” I believe we all need each other. Yes, those of us who have experienced abuse and varying states of unequal standing (me on many counts) can find it hard to trust again. But trust we must. Trust that we need to come back together in union and learn from each other. Give each other the space to mend and listen, cry and express.

What I do know is that when a woman connects to her divine power and a man is allowed to be in his, and two individuals collide – something magical happens. Connection on a primal level. From there grows a creativity that spills out into all aspects of life.

I work with individuals and couples of all genders and sexual orientations, including members of the LGBTQ+ community. My practice is a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space to explore intimacy, connection, relationships and the deeper emotional patterns that may be holding you back.
